This Privacy Policy explains how Helix ("the App"), built by Lumira Labs ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information. We built Helix around a simple principle: your health data stays on your device.
With your permission, Helix reads data such as heart rate, HRV, sleep, workouts, steps, and body metrics from Apple Health to compute recovery, training load, sleep, and hydration insights directly on your device. This health data is processed on-device and is never uploaded to our servers, sold, or shared with third parties. Helix may also write journal or mindfulness tags back to Apple Health, only with your permission.
Food logs, water intake, weight, journal entries, and onboarding preferences (like your goals) are stored locally on your device and, if you use Widgets or the Apple Watch app, shared only between your own devices via a private Apple App Group and iCloud/local sync — never to our servers.
If you use the AI Coach or food-photo scanning feature, the text or image you submit is sent securely to our backend, which forwards it to a third-party AI provider solely to generate a response, and is not used to build an advertising profile. We do not store your conversation history on our servers beyond what is technically required to process the request.
When you search for a food item, your search text is sent to our backend, which queries food databases (FatSecret and Open Food Facts) to return nutrition information. These lookups are not linked to your identity.
Subscription purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We may receive anonymized transaction status (e.g., active/expired) to unlock premium features.
We may collect basic, non-identifying crash and performance diagnostics to keep the App reliable. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, and Helix does not sell your data.
Because your health and nutrition data live on your device, deleting the App or revoking Health permissions in Settings removes Helix's access to that data. To request deletion of any data our backend may hold (such as support correspondence), email us at the address below.
Helix is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
You can revoke Apple Health permissions at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Helix. You can disable notifications in iOS Settings > Notifications > Helix.
